The American Music Company Band

Okay, all of the photos below are not directly related to the band. We just like streetrods! We snapped the photos at various car shows and rod runs throughout the Maryland - Washington D.C. - Baltimore - Virginia areas. A few photos even come from Pigeon Forge, TN and Daytona, FL.

If you see your rod here, send us an email with any info you might like us to include next to your rod's photo.

Photo to the left is Danny Gatton's custom '56 Crown Vic "Unfinished Business". (Steve added the band name and flames via Photoshop)

All photography by Steve Gorospe.

We have to start this section out with the band's own streetrod! Ernie's 1934 Ford pickup, built in 1965 and remains the same today! A true '50s nostalgic rod. The truck has a Chevy 283 motor from a '56 Chevy with three deuces on top and a 3-speed on the floor. Inside you'll find a red bench seat matching the exterior's Matador Red paint with white shag carpet over the dash, headliner, and door panels. Mandatory fuzzy dice hang on the rear-view. The exhaust pipes along the bed are real (don't touch!). The rear tail lights are '59 Caddy lights. And it rides on a set of Chrysler wires. Ernie and Danny Gatton originally put the truck together in 1965. The truck was stored from 1980 until 2001, when Ernie's buddies Danny Hartley, Mickey Baker, and Dwight Ferrell helped wipe off the dust and fire up the engine again!

Left: Bobby Khuen (of Olney, MD) has owned this 1939 Ford Standard since his high-school days. After years of storage, here it sits next to Ernie's '34 at the 2003 Annual Turkey Rod Run in Daytona FL. For those Danny Gatton fans out there who have visited The Definitive Danny Gatton Website, you may recognize the '39 from the album cover that never was - "Caviar 'n Grits".
